WebbIn the menu bar, click Object > Path > Outline Stroke; If you now switch to the outline view by clicking Menu Bar > View > Outline you’ll see that your strokes now have a closed path around them. Once you’ve outlined a stroke in Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator, you’ll no longer be able to edit its thickness or style.

WebbI was using inkscape and it was working fine then it suddenly crashed. No big deal, it's happened before and I usually restart my computer and it's fine. I did exactly that and when I reopened my drawing 2/3 of it were completely gone. I saved everything as I had restarted it earlier today and it's been fine.

If you converted that single open path (the black one) to a closed path, using Path menu > Stroke to Path, you might be able to use it to divide the rectangle into 2 pieces using a path operation. I'm not sure, and that's not the proper way to do what you want anyway.
