WebJun 23, 2010 · Take the rod loose from the 1st/2nd gear lever (the middle lever) and manually shift it back and forth. You should feel it "click" into gear. If it feels funny when you put it into 1st (lever to the rear), you may indeed have a broken fork. The only way to find out for sure is take the side cover off and look at it.
